   Poor           Great

The AT crosses Skyline Drive at Mile 84.3. This is 18.8 miles south of Swift Run Gap (US 33) and 21.1 miles north of Rockfish Gap (I-64). This point is indicated by the maker on the attached map. GPS: M38.2283 W78.7279 If you rotate the street view from this point , you will notice that even roadside parking is quite limited. Probably this is best considered only a drop-off or access point. Much better parking is available at the Jones Run trail head 0.2 miles further north. See mile 1.3. Rotate the street view to the hwest to see the southbound trail. The northbound trail on the other side of the road is not obvious in these views. 01/13/10 Updated 06/7/19 0 to very limited at crossing

Trayfoot Mt. Trail
   Poor           Great

See previous entry (Mile 1.9) for directions to the Black Rock Parking area. Follow the blue blazed dirt road(Trayfoot Mt. Trail) leaving from the south end of the parking lot. This road goes west uphill. In about 0.1 mile it bears left (south). The AT comes very close to the Trayfoot Mt. Trail but they do not cross here. It is only a few feet to the AT. This point is in the center of the map and is indicated by the marker. At this "almost" intersection, southbound AT is to the south, northbound to the north. Note that with the street view option on, there is a blue circle. Click on this to see a rotatable picture of the "intersection". The Trayfoot Mt. Trail is the road, the AT is the path. The trails do cross after the southbound AT has circled Blackrock. This makes for a nice loop. 11/21/09 Updated 12/16/20
